The Great Experiment – The Struggle For Russian's Cultural And Political Future
Lecture by Dr Markus Osterreider (Munich) to members and friends of the Anthroposophical Society on FRIDAY 6 June 2008 at 8.00 pm at ELMFIELD SCHOOL, Love Lane, Stourbridge (near Mary Stevens Park).
The lecture will focus on Russian's current situation and the country's relations with the rest of Europe. An enlivening and illuminating speaker, Markus Osterreider has lectured at Emerson College (Forest Row, Sussex) a number of times, but this is his first visit to Stourbridge.
Markus Osterreider PhD, MA (Munich). Formerly a research fellow of the Institute for Eastern Europe (Osteuropa-Institut) in Munich, he is now a freelance historian, lecturer and writer, active in many European countries from Ireland and Norway in the West to Romania, Ukraine and Russia in the East. Fluent in a number of East European languages and a regular visitor to Russia, Dr Osterreider has a particular interest in the spiritual, geopolitical and cross-cultural exchanges between the continents of America, Europe and Eurasia. His main publications (in German) are: "Sun Cross and Tree of Life" (1995), "The Militant Commonwealth of Peace – Images of War and Peace in Poland-Lithuania 1505 – 95 (2005).
